1  Wherefore¹³⁵² when we could no longer³³⁷¹ forbear,⁴⁷²² we thought it good²¹⁰⁶ to be left²⁶⁴¹ at¹⁷²² Athens¹¹⁶ alone;³⁴⁴¹

1  이러므로 우리가 참다 못하여 우리만 아덴에 머물기를 좋게 여겨

1  Therefore when we could no longer endure, we were pleased to be left at Athens alone.

1  그러므로 우리가 더 이상 참을 수 없어서 우리들만 아테네에 머무는 것을 좋게 여겨

2  And²⁵³² sent³⁹⁹² Timothy,⁵⁰⁹⁵ our²²⁵⁷ brother,⁸⁰ and²⁵³² minister¹²⁴⁹ of God,²³¹⁶ and²⁵³² our²²⁵⁷ fellow laborer⁴⁹⁰⁴ in¹⁷²² the³⁵⁸⁸ gospel²⁰⁹⁸ of Christ,⁵⁵⁴⁷ to establish⁴⁷⁴¹ you,⁵²⁰⁹ and²⁵³² to comfort³⁸⁷⁰ you⁵²⁰⁹ concerning⁴⁰¹² your⁵²¹⁶ faith:⁴¹⁰²

2  우리 형제 곧 그리스도G5547 복음의 하나님의G2316 일군인 디모데를 보내노니 이는 너희를 굳게 하고 너희 믿음에 대하여 위로함으로

2  And we sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and to comfort you concerning your faith,

2   우리의 형제며 하나님(엘로힘)의 일꾼이요 그리스도(마쉬악H4899)의 복음 안에서 우리의 동역자인 디모데를 보내었노니 이는 너희를 굳게 세우고 너희의 믿음에 대하여 격려하므로

3  That no man³³⁶⁷ should be moved⁴⁵²⁵ by¹⁷²² these⁵⁰²⁵ afflictions:²³⁴⁷ for¹⁰⁶³ yourselves⁸⁴⁶ know¹⁴⁹² that³⁷⁵⁴ we are appointed²⁷⁴⁹ thereunto.^{1519, 5124}

3  누구든지 이 여러 환난 중에 요동치 않게 하려 함이라 우리로 이것을 당하게 세우신 줄을 너희가 친히 알리라

3  so that no one should be drawn aside by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are appointed to them.

3   아무도 이러한 고난들로 인하여 요동치 않게 하려 함이니 이를 위하여 우리가 세움을 받은 줄을 너희가 아느니라.

4  For¹⁰⁶³ verily,²⁵³² when³⁷⁵³ we were²²⁵⁸ with⁴³¹⁴ you,⁵²⁰⁹ we told you before^{4302, 5213} that³⁷⁵⁴ we should³¹⁹⁵ suffer tribulation;²³⁴⁶ even²⁵³² as²⁵³¹ it came to pass,¹⁰⁹⁶ and²⁵³² ye know.¹⁴⁹²

4  우리가 너희와 함께 있을 때에 장차 받을 환난을 너희에게 미리 말하였더니 과연 그렇게 된 것을 너희가 아느니라

4  For truly, when we were with you, we told you before that we were going to suffer affliction, as it also happened, even you know.

4   또한 우리가 너희와 함께 있을 때에 우리가 환난을 당하리라고 너희에게 미리 말하였더니 과연 그렇게 된 것을 너희가 아느니라.

5  For this cause,^{1223, 5124} when I²⁵⁰⁴ could no longer³³⁷¹ forbear,⁴⁷²² I sent³⁹⁹² to know¹⁰⁹⁷ your⁵²¹⁶ faith,⁴¹⁰² lest by some means³³⁸¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ tempter³⁹⁸⁵ have tempted³⁹⁸⁵ you,⁵²⁰⁹ and²⁵³² our²²⁵⁷ labor²⁸⁷³ be¹⁰⁹⁶ in¹⁵¹⁹ vain.²⁷⁵⁶

5  이러므로 나도 참다 못하여 너희 믿음을 알기 위하여 보내었노니 이는 혹 시험하는 자가 너희를 시험하여 우리 수고를 헛되게 할까 함일러니

5  For this cause, when I could no longer endure, I also sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter may have tempted you and our labor may have been in vain.

5   이로 인하여 내가 더 이상 참을 수 없어서 너희의 믿음을 알아보려고 보냈으니 이는 시험하는 자가 너희를 시험하여 우리의 수고를 헛되게 하지 못하게 하려는 것이니라.

6  But¹¹⁶¹ now⁷³⁷ when Timothy⁵⁰⁹⁵ came²⁰⁶⁴ from⁵⁷⁵ you⁵²¹⁶ unto⁴³¹⁴ us,²²⁴⁸ and²⁵³² brought us good tidings^{2097, 2254} of your⁵²¹⁶ faith⁴¹⁰² and²⁵³² charity,²⁶ and²⁵³² that³⁷⁵⁴ ye have²¹⁹² good¹⁸ remembrance³⁴¹⁷ of us²²⁵⁷ always,³⁸⁴² desiring greatly¹⁹⁷¹ to see¹⁴⁹² us,²²⁴⁸ as²⁵⁰⁹ we²²⁴⁹ also²⁵³² to see you:⁵²⁰⁹

6  지금은 디모데가 너희에게로부터 와서 너희 믿음과 사랑의 기쁜 소식을 우리에게 전하고 또 너희가 항상 우리를 잘 생각하여 우리가 너희를 간절히 보고자 함과 같이 너희도 우리를 간절히 보고자 한다 하니

6  But now when Timothy came from you to us and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring to see us (as we also you),

6  그러나 이제 디모데가 너희에게서 우리에게로 와서 너희 믿음과 사랑의 기쁜 소식을 우리에게 전해 주었고, 또 우리가 너희를 보고 싶어함 같이 너희도 우리를 몹시 보고 싶어하며 항상 우리를 잘 기억한다고 하니

7  Therefore,^{1223, 5124} brethren,⁸⁰ we were comforted³⁸⁷⁰ over¹⁹⁰⁹ you⁵²¹³ in¹⁹⁰⁹ all³⁹⁵⁶ our²²⁵⁷ affliction²³⁴⁷ and²⁵³² distress³¹⁸ by¹²²³ your⁵²¹⁶ faith:⁴¹⁰²

7  이러므로 형제들아 우리가 모든 궁핍과 환난 가운데서 너희 믿음으로 말미암아 너희에게 위로를 받았노라

7  then, my brothers, we were comforted over you, through your faith, even in all our affliction and needs;

7  형제들아, 이로 인하여 우리가 우리의 모든 환난과 궁핍 가운데서도 너희의 믿음으로 말미암아 위로를 받았노라.

8  For³⁷⁵⁴ now³⁵⁶⁸ we live,²¹⁹⁸ if¹⁴³⁷ ye⁵²¹⁰ stand fast⁴⁷³⁹ in¹⁷²² the Lord.²⁹⁶²

8  그러므로 너희가 주G2962 안에 굳게 선즉 우리가 이제는 살리라

8  for now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.

8   너희가 주(야훼) 안에 굳게 서면 이제 우리가 살리라.

9  For¹⁰⁶³ what⁵¹⁰¹ thanks²¹⁶⁹ can¹⁴¹⁰ we render to God again^{467, 2316} for⁴⁰¹² you,⁵²¹⁶ for¹⁹⁰⁹ all³⁹⁵⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ joy⁵⁴⁷⁹ wherewith³⁷³⁹ we joy⁵⁴⁶³ for your sakes^{1223, 5209} before¹⁷¹⁵ our²²⁵⁷ God;²³¹⁶

9  우리가 우리 하나님G2316 앞에서 너희를 인하여 모든 기쁨으로 기뻐하니 너희를 위하여 능히 어떠한 감사함으로 하나님께G2316 보답할꼬

9  For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God,

9  우리가 우리의 하나님(엘로힘) 앞에서 너희로 인하여 모든 기쁨으로 기뻐하노니, 너희를 위하여 어떤 감사를 하나님(엘로힘)께 드릴 수 있으리요?

10  Night³⁵⁷¹ and²⁵³² day²²⁵⁰ praying¹¹⁸⁹ exceedingly^{5228, 1537, 4053} that we might see¹⁴⁹² your⁵²¹⁶ face,⁴³⁸³ and²⁵³² might perfect²⁶⁷⁵ that which is lacking⁵³⁰³ in your⁵²¹⁶ faith?⁴¹⁰²

10  주야로 심히 간구함은 너희 얼굴을 보고 너희 믿음의 부족함을 온전케 하려 함이라

10  night and day praying exceedingly for me to see your face and to perfect the things lacking in your faith?

10  우리가 밤낮으로 열심히 기도함은 너희의 얼굴을 보고 너희의 믿음에서 부족한 것을 온전케 하려는 것이라.

11  Now¹¹⁶¹ God²³¹⁶ himself⁸⁴⁶ and²⁵³² our²²⁵⁷ Father,³⁹⁶² and²⁵³² our²²⁵⁷ Lord²⁹⁶² Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ,⁵⁵⁴⁷ direct²⁷²⁰ our²²⁵⁷ way³⁵⁹⁸ unto⁴³¹⁴ you.⁵²⁰⁹

11  하나님G2316 우리 아버지와 우리 주G2962 예수는G2424 우리 길을 너희에게로 직행하게 하옵시며

11  And may God Himself and our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ direct our way to you.

11 이제 하나님(엘로힘)이신 우리 아버지와 우리 주(아도나이H136) 예수(야슈아) 그리스도(하 마쉬악)께서 우리의 길을 너희에게로 인도하시기를 바라노라.

12  And¹¹⁶¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord²⁹⁶² make you to increase^{4121, 5209} and²⁵³² abound⁴⁰⁵² in love²⁶ one toward another,^{240, 1519} and²⁵³² toward¹⁵¹⁹ all³⁹⁵⁶ men, even²⁵³² as²⁵⁰⁹ we²²⁴⁹ do toward¹⁵¹⁹ you:⁵²⁰⁹

12  또 주께서G2962 우리가 너희를 사랑함과 같이 너희도 피차간과 모든 사람에 대한 사랑이 더욱 많아 넘치게 하사

12  And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all, even as we also toward you,

12   또 주(아도나이)께서 우리가 너희를 사랑함과 같이 너희도 서로와 모든 사람에게 대한 사랑이 더욱 많아지고 넘치게 하여 주시기를 바라며

13  To the end he may establish⁴⁷⁴¹ your⁵²¹⁶ hearts²⁵⁸⁸ unblamable²⁷³ in¹⁷²² holiness⁴² before¹⁷¹⁵ God,²³¹⁶ even²⁵³² our²²⁵⁷ Father,³⁹⁶² at¹⁷²² the³⁵⁸⁸ coming³⁹⁵² of our²²⁵⁷ Lord²⁹⁶² Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ with³³²⁶ all³⁹⁵⁶ his⁸⁴⁶ saints.⁴⁰

13  너희 마음을 굳게 하시고 우리 주G2962 예수께서G2424 그의 모든 성도와 함께 강림하실 때에 하나님G2316 우리 아버지 앞에서 거룩함에 흠이 없게 하시기를 원하노라

13  in order to establish your hearts blameless in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

13   우리 주(아도나이) 예수(야슈아) 그리스도(하 마쉬악)께서 그의 모든 성도들과 함께 오실 때에 하나님(엘로힘), 곧 우리 아버지 앞에서 거룩함에 흠 없도록 끝까지 너희 마음을 견고케 하시기를 바라노라.
