1  But¹¹⁶¹ of⁴⁰¹² the³⁵⁸⁸ times⁵⁵⁵⁰ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ seasons,²⁵⁴⁰ brethren,⁸⁰ ye have²¹⁹² no³⁷⁵⁶ need⁵⁵³² that I write¹¹²⁵ unto you.⁵²¹³

1  형제들아 때와 시기에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없음은

1  But of the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I write to you.

1    그러나 형제들아, 그 때와 시기에 관해서는 너희에게 쓸 필요가 없으니

2  For¹⁰⁶³ yourselves⁸⁴⁶ know¹⁴⁹² perfectly¹⁹⁹ that³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ day²²⁵⁰ of the Lord²⁹⁶² so³⁷⁷⁹ cometh²⁰⁶⁴ as⁵⁶¹³ a thief²⁸¹² in¹⁷²² the night.³⁵⁷¹

2  주의G2962 날이 밤에 도적 같이 이를 줄을 너희 자신이 자세히 앎이라

2  For you yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.

2   이는 주(야훼)의 날이 밤에 도둑같이 오리라는 것을 너희 자신이 정확히 알고 있기 때문이니라.

3  For¹⁰⁶³ when³⁷⁵² they shall say,³⁰⁰⁴ Peace¹⁵¹⁵ and²⁵³² safety;⁸⁰³ then⁵¹¹⁹ sudden¹⁶⁰ destruction³⁶³⁹ cometh upon²¹⁸⁶ them,⁸⁴⁶ as⁵⁶¹⁸ travail⁵⁶⁰⁴ upon a woman with child;^{2192, 1722, 1064} and²⁵³² they shall not³³⁶⁴ escape.¹⁶²⁸

3  "저희가 평안하다, 안전하다 할 그 때에 잉태된 여자에게 해산 고통이 이름과 같이 멸망이 홀연히 저희에게 이르리니 결단코 피하지 못하리라"

3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety! Then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail upon a woman with child. And they shall not escape.

3   그들이 "평안하다, 안전하다."고 말할 때에 아이 밴 여인에게 진통이 오듯 갑작스런 멸망이 그들에게 임하리니 결단코 피하지 못하리라.

4  But¹¹⁶¹ ye,⁵²¹⁰ brethren,⁸⁰ are²⁰⁷⁵ not³⁷⁵⁶ in¹⁷²² darkness,⁴⁶⁵⁵ that²⁴⁴³ that day²²⁵⁰ should overtake²⁶³⁸ you⁵²⁰⁹ as⁵⁶¹³ a thief.²⁸¹²

4  형제들아 너희는 어두움에 있지 아니하매 그 날이 도적같이 너희에게 임하지 못하리니

4  But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake you like a thief.

4  그러나 형제들아, 너희는 어두움에 있지 아니하니 그 날이 너희를 도둑같이 덮치지 못하리라.

5  Ye⁵²¹⁰ are²⁰⁷⁵ all³⁹⁵⁶ the children⁵²⁰⁷ of light,⁵⁴⁵⁷ and²⁵³² the children⁵²⁰⁷ of the day:²²⁵⁰ we are²⁰⁷⁰ not³⁷⁵⁶ of the night,³⁵⁷¹ nor³⁷⁶¹ of darkness.⁴⁶⁵⁵

5  너희는 다 빛의 아들이요 낮의 아들이라 우리가 밤이나 어두움에 속하지 아니하나니

5  You are all the sons of light and the sons of the day. We are not of the night, or of darkness.

5  너희는 모두 빛의 자녀들이며 낮의 자녀들이라. 우리는 밤이나 어두움에 속하지 아니하노라.

6  Therefore^{686, 3767} let us not³³⁶¹ sleep,²⁵¹⁸ as⁵⁶¹³ do⁽²⁵³²⁾ others;³⁰⁶² but²³⁵ let us watch¹¹²⁷ and²⁵³² be sober.³⁵²⁵

6  그러므로 우리는 다른 이들과 같이 자지 말고 오직 깨어 근신할지라

6  Therefore let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be calm.

6  그러므로 우리는 다른 사람들과 같이 자지 말고 깨어 있어 정신을 차리자.

7  For¹⁰⁶³ they that sleep²⁵¹⁸ sleep²⁵¹⁸ in the night;³⁵⁷¹ and²⁵³² they that be drunken³¹⁸² are drunken³¹⁸⁴ in the night.³⁵⁷¹

7  자는 자들은 밤에 자고 취하는 자들은 밤에 취하되

7  For those sleeping sleep in the night, and those being drunken are drunken in the night.

7    이는 자는 자들은 밤에 자고 술 취하는 자들은 밤에 취하기 때문이라.

8  But¹¹⁶¹ let us,²²⁴⁹ who are⁵⁶⁰⁷ of the day,²²⁵⁰ be sober,³⁵²⁵ putting on¹⁷⁴⁶ the breastplate²³⁸² of faith⁴¹⁰² and²⁵³² love;²⁶ and²⁵³² for a helmet,⁴⁰³⁰ the hope¹⁶⁸⁰ of salvation.⁴⁹⁹¹

8  우리는 낮에 속하였으니 근신하여 믿음과 사랑의 흉배를 붙이고 구원의 소망의 투구를 쓰자

8  But let us, who are of the day, be calm, having put on the breastplate of faith and love and the hope of salvation for a helmet.

8    그러나 우리는 낮에 속하니 정신을 차리고 믿음과 사랑의 흉배를 붙이고 구원의 소망인 투구를 쓰자.

9  For³⁷⁵⁴ God²³¹⁶ hath not³⁷⁵⁶ appointed⁵⁰⁸⁷ us²²⁴⁸ to¹⁵¹⁹ wrath,³⁷⁰⁹ but²³⁵ to obtain^{1519, 4047} salvation⁴⁹⁹¹ by¹²²³ our²²⁵⁷ Lord²⁹⁶² Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ,⁵⁵⁴⁷

9  하나님이G2316 우리를 세우심은 노하심에 이르게 하심이 아니요 오직 우리 주G2962 예수G2424 그리스도G5547 로 말미암아 구원을 얻게 하신 것이라

9  For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

9  이는 하나님(엘로힘)께서 우리가 진노를 받도록 정해 놓으신 것이 아니라 우리 주(아도나이G2962 ) 예수(야슈아) 그리스도(하 마쉬악을)를 통하여 구원을 받게 하셨기 때문이라.

10  Who died⁵⁹⁹ for⁵²²⁸ us,²²⁵⁷ that,²⁴⁴³ whether¹⁵³⁵ we wake¹¹²⁷ or¹⁵³⁵ sleep,²⁵¹⁸ we should live²¹⁹⁸ together²⁶⁰ with⁴⁸⁶² him.⁸⁴⁶

10  예수께서 우리를 위하여 죽으사 우리로 하여금 깨든지 자든지 자기와 함께 살게 하려 하셨느니라

10  who died for us, so that whether we watch or sleep we should live together with Him.

10 주(그분)께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심은 우리가 깨든지 자든지 주(그분)와 함께 살게 하시려는 것이라.

11  Wherefore¹³⁵² comfort³⁸⁷⁰ yourselves together,²⁴⁰ and²⁵³² edify³⁶¹⁸ one another,^{1520, 1520} even as²⁵³¹ also²⁵³² ye do.⁴¹⁶⁰

11  그러므로 피차 권면하고 피차 덕을 세우기를 너희가 하는것 같이하라

11  Therefore comfort one another, and edify one another, even as you also do.

11   그러므로 너희가 행하고 있는 것처럼 서로 위로하고 서로를 세워 주라.

12  And¹¹⁶¹ we beseech²⁰⁶⁵ you,⁵²⁰⁹ brethren,⁸⁰ to know¹⁴⁹² them which labor²⁸⁷² among¹⁷²² you,⁵²¹³ and²⁵³² are over⁴²⁹¹ you⁵²¹⁶ in¹⁷²² the Lord,²⁹⁶² and²⁵³² admonish³⁵⁶⁰ you;⁵²⁰⁹

12  형제들아 우리가 너희에게 구하노니 너희 가운데서 수고하고 주G2962 안에서 너희를 다스리며 권하는 자들을 너희가 알고

12  And, brothers, we beseech you to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and who admonish you,

12  형제들아, 우리가 너희에게 간구하노니 너희 가운데서 수고하고 주(야훼) 안에서 너희를 인도하며 훈계하는 사람들을 알아서

13  And²⁵³² to esteem²²³³ them⁸⁴⁶ very highly^{5228, 1537, 4053} in¹⁷²² love²⁶ for their work's sake.^{1223, 846, 2041} And be at peace¹⁵¹⁴ among¹⁷²² yourselves.¹⁴³⁸

13  저의 역사로 말미암아 사랑 안에서 가장 귀히 여기며 너희끼리 화목하라

13  and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

13  그들의 하는 일로 인하여 사랑으로 그들을 극진히 존경하라. 너희는 서로 화목하라.

14  Now¹¹⁶¹ we exhort³⁸⁷⁰ you,⁵²⁰⁹ brethren,⁸⁰ warn³⁵⁶⁰ them that are unruly,⁸¹³ comfort³⁸⁸⁸ the³⁵⁸⁸ feebleminded,³⁶⁴² support⁴⁷² the³⁵⁸⁸ weak,⁷⁷² be patient³¹¹⁴ toward⁴³¹⁴ all³⁹⁵⁶ men.

14  또 형제들아 너희를 권면하노니 규모 없는 자들을 권계하며 마음이 약한 자들을 안위하고 힘이 없는 자들을 붙들어 주며 모든 사람을 대하여 오래 참으라

14  Now we exhort you, brothers, warn those who are unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.

14 형제들아, 너희에게 권고하노니 무질서한 자들을 훈계하며 낙담한 자들을 위로하고 약한 자들을 붙들어 주며 모든 사람들에게 오래 참으라.

15  See³⁷⁰⁸ that none^{5100, 3361} render⁵⁹¹ evil²⁵⁵⁶ for⁴⁷³ evil²⁵⁵⁶ unto any⁵¹⁰⁰ man; but²³⁵ ever³⁸⁴² follow¹³⁷⁷ that which is good,¹⁸ both²⁵³² among¹⁵¹⁹ yourselves,²⁴⁰ and²⁵³² to¹⁵¹⁹ all³⁹⁵⁶ men.

15  삼가 누가 누구에게든지 악으로 악을 갚지 말게 하고 오직 피차 대하든지 모든 사람을 대하든지 항상 선을 좇으라

15  See that none gives evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue the good, both towards one another and towards all.

15  아무에게도 악으로 악을 갚지 말고, 오히려 너희 자신들 가운데서와 모든 사람들에게 선한 것을 항상 따르라.

16  Rejoice⁵⁴⁶³ evermore.³⁸⁴²

16  항상 기뻐하라

18  범사에 감사하라 이는 그리스도G5547 예수G2424 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의G2316 뜻이니라

18  In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

18    모든 일에 감사하라. 이것은 그리스도(마쉬악) 예수(야슈아) 안에서 너희에 관한 하나님(야훼)의 뜻이니라.

19  Quench⁴⁵⁷⁰ not³³⁶¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ Spirit.⁴¹⁵¹

19  성령을 소멸치 말며

19  Do not quench the Spirit.

20  Despise¹⁸⁴⁸ not³³⁶¹ prophesyings.⁴³⁹⁴

20  예언을 멸시치 말고

20  Do not despise prophesying.

21  Prove¹³⁸¹ all things;³⁹⁵⁶ hold fast²⁷²² that which is good.²⁵⁷⁰

21  범사에 헤아려 좋은 것을 취하고

21  Prove all things, hold fast to the good.

21   모든 일을 시험하여 보고 선한 것을 붙잡으라.

22  Abstain⁵⁶⁷ from⁵⁷⁵ all³⁹⁵⁶ appearance¹⁴⁹¹ of evil.⁴¹⁹⁰

22  악은 모든 모양이라도 버리라

22  Abstain from every appearance of evil.

22   악은 어떤 형태이든지 피하라.

23  And¹¹⁶¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ very⁸⁴⁶ God²³¹⁶ of peace¹⁵¹⁵ sanctify³⁷ you⁵²⁰⁹ wholly;³⁶⁵¹ and²⁵³² I pray God your⁵²¹⁶ whole³⁶⁴⁸ spirit⁴¹⁵¹ and²⁵³² soul⁵⁵⁹⁰ and²⁵³² body⁴⁹⁸³ be preserved⁵⁰⁸³ blameless²⁷⁴ unto¹⁷²² the³⁵⁸⁸ coming³⁹⁵² of our²²⁵⁷ Lord²⁹⁶² Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ.⁵⁵⁴⁷

23  평강의 하나님이G2316 친히 너희로 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 또 너희 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주G2962 예수G2424 그리스도G5547 강림하실 때에 흠 없게 보전되기를 원하노라

23  And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blamelessly at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

23  화평의 하나님(엘로힘)께서 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주(아도나이) 예수(야슈아) 그리스도(하 마쉬악)께서 오실 때까지 책망할 것이 없게 보존되기를 하나님께 기도하노라( pray God ).

24  Faithful⁴¹⁰³ is he that calleth²⁵⁶⁴ you,⁵²⁰⁹ who³⁷³⁹ also²⁵³² will do⁴¹⁶⁰ it.

24  너희를 부르시는 이는 미쁘시니 그가 또한 이루시리라

24  Faithful is He who called you, who also will do it.

24    너희를 부르시는 분은 신실하시니 그가 또한 이것을 행하시리라.

25  Brethren,⁸⁰ pray⁴³³⁶ for⁴⁰¹² us.²²⁵⁷

27  내가 주를G2962 힘입어 너희를 명하노니 모든 형제에게 이 편지를 읽어 들리라

27  I charge you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.

27 내가 주(아도나이)를 힘입어 너희에게 부탁하노니 이 편지가 모든 거룩한 형제들에게 읽혀지게 하라.

28  The³⁵⁸⁸ grace⁵⁴⁸⁵ of our²²⁵⁷ Lord²⁹⁶² Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ be with³³²⁶ you.⁵²¹⁶ Amen.²⁸¹

28  우리 주G2962 예수G2424 그리스도의G5547 은혜가 너희에게 있을 지어다

28  May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
