1  Go to³³ now,³⁵⁶⁸ ye rich men,⁴¹⁴⁵ weep²⁷⁹⁹ and howl³⁶⁴⁹ for¹⁹⁰⁹ your⁵²¹⁶ miseries⁵⁰⁰⁴ that shall come upon¹⁹⁰⁴ you.

1  들으라 부한 자들아 너희에게 임할 고생을 인하여 울고 통곡하라

1  Come now, rich ones, weep and howl for your hardships coming on.

1  이제 오라, 너희 부자들이여, 너희에게 닥칠 재난으로 인하여 울고 통곡하라.

2  Your⁵²¹⁶ riches⁴¹⁴⁹ are corrupted,⁴⁵⁹⁵ and²⁵³² your⁵²¹⁶ garments²⁴⁴⁰ are¹⁰⁹⁶ motheaten.⁴⁵⁹⁸

2  너희 재물은 썩었고 너희 옷은 좀 먹었으며

2  Your riches have rotted, and your clothes have become moth-eaten.

2   너희의 재물은 썩었고, 너희의 의복은 좀먹었으며

3  Your⁵²¹⁶ gold⁵⁵⁵⁷ and²⁵³² silver⁶⁹⁶ is cankered;²⁷²⁸ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ rust²⁴⁴⁷ of them⁸⁴⁶ shall be²⁰⁷¹ a⁽¹⁵¹⁹⁾ witness³¹⁴² against you,⁵²¹³ and²⁵³² shall eat⁵³¹⁵ your⁵²¹⁶ flesh⁴⁵⁶¹ as it were⁵⁶¹³ fire.⁴⁴⁴² Ye have heaped treasure together²³⁴³ for¹⁷²² the last²⁰⁷⁸ days.²²⁵⁰

3  너희 금과 은은 녹이 슬었으니 이 녹이 너희에게 증거가 되며 불같이 너희 살을 먹으리라 너희가 말세에 재물을 쌓았도다

3  Your gold and silver have corroded, and their poison will be a witness against you, and will eat your flesh as fire. You heaped treasure in the last days.

3   너희의 금과 은은 녹이 슬었으니, 이것들의 녹이 너희에게 증거가 되어 불같이 너희 살을 먹으리라. 너희가 마지막 날들을 위한 재물을 쌓았도다.

4  Behold,²⁴⁰⁰ the³⁵⁸⁸ hire³⁴⁰⁸ of the³⁵⁸⁸ laborers²⁰⁴⁰ who have reaped down²⁷⁰ your⁵²¹⁶ fields,⁵⁵⁶¹ which is of⁵⁷⁵ you⁵²¹⁶ kept back by fraud,⁶⁵⁰ crieth:²⁸⁹⁶ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ cries⁹⁹⁴ of them which have reaped²³²⁵ are entered¹⁵²⁵ into¹⁵¹⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ ears³⁷⁷⁵ of the Lord²⁹⁶² of Sabaoth.⁴⁵¹⁹

4  보라 너희 밭에 추수한 품군에게 주지 아니한 삯이 소리 지르며 추수한 자의 우는 소리가 만군의G4519 주의G2962 귀에 들렸느니라

4  Behold, the hire of the laborers reaping your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

4  보라, 너희 밭에서 추수한 일꾼들에게 속임수로 주지 않은 품삯이 소리지르며, 추수꾼들의 울부짖음이 만군의 주(야훼)의 귀에 들렸느니라.

5  Ye have lived in pleasure⁵¹⁷¹ on¹⁹⁰⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ earth,¹⁰⁹³ and²⁵³² been wanton;⁴⁶⁸⁴ ye have nourished⁵¹⁴² your⁵²¹⁶ hearts,²⁵⁸⁸ as in¹⁷²² a day²²⁵⁰ of slaughter.⁴⁹⁶⁷

5  너희가 땅에서 사치하고 연락하여 도살의 날에 너희 마음을 살지게 하였도다

5  You have lived luxuriously on the earth, and lived wantonly. You have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

5    너희는 땅에서 방탕하고 사치스럽게 살았도다. 너희가 살륙의 날처럼 너희 마음을 살찌게 하였도다.

6  Ye have condemned²⁶¹³ and killed⁵⁴⁰⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ just;¹³⁴² and he doth not³⁷⁵⁶ resist⁴⁹⁸ you.⁵²¹³

6  너희가 옳은 자를 정죄하였도다 또 죽였도다 그는 너희에게 대항하지 아니하였느니라

6  You have condemned and murdered the just; he does not resist you.

6   너희가 그 의인을 정죄하고 죽였으나, 그 분은 너희에게 대항하지 아니하시느니라.

7  Be patient³¹¹⁴ therefore,³⁷⁶⁷ brethren,⁸⁰ unto²¹⁹³ the³⁵⁸⁸ coming³⁹⁵² of the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord.²⁹⁶² Behold,²⁴⁰⁰ the³⁵⁸⁸ husbandman¹⁰⁹² waiteth for¹⁵⁵¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ precious⁵⁰⁹³ fruit²⁵⁹⁰ of the³⁵⁸⁸ earth,¹⁰⁹³ and²⁵³² hath long patience³¹¹⁴ for¹⁹⁰⁹ it,⁸⁴⁶ until^{2193, 302} he receive²⁹⁸³ the early⁴⁴⁰⁶ and²⁵³² latter³⁷⁹⁷ rain.⁵²⁰⁵

7  그러므로 형제들아 주의G2962 강림 하시기까지 길이 참으라 보라 농부가 땅에서 나는 귀한 열매를 바라고 길이 참아 이른 비와 늦은 비를 기다리나니

7  Therefore be patient, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and the latter rain.

7   그러므로 형제들아, 주(아도나이H136)께서 오실 때까지 인내하라. 보라, 농부들이 땅에서 나는 귀한 열매를 바라고 이른 비와 늦은 비를 받을 때까지 오래 참나니

8  Be ye also patient;^{3114, 5210, 2532} establish⁴⁷⁴¹ your⁵²¹⁶ hearts:²⁵⁸⁸ for³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ coming³⁹⁵² of the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord²⁹⁶² draweth nigh.¹⁴⁴⁸

8  너희도 길이 참고 마음을 굳게 하라 주의G2962 강림이 가까우니라

8  You also be patient, establish your hearts, for the coming of your Lord draws near.

8   너희도 인내하며 마음을 견고케 하라. 주(아도나이)의 오심이 가까움이라.

9  Grudge⁴⁷²⁷ not³³⁶¹ one against another,^{240, 2596} brethren,⁸⁰ lest³³⁶³ ye be condemned:²⁶³² behold,²⁴⁰⁰ the³⁵⁸⁸ judge²⁹²³ standeth²⁴⁷⁶ before⁴²⁵³ the³⁵⁸⁸ door.²³⁷⁴

9  형제들아 서로 원망하지 말라 그리하여야 심판을 면하리라 보라 심판자가 문 밖에 서 계시니라

9  Do not grudge against one another, brothers, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge stands before the door.

9 형제들아, 정죄받지 않으려거든 서로 원망하지 말라. 보라, 심판하시는 분이 문 앞에 서 계시니라.

10  Take,²⁹⁸³ my³⁴⁵⁰ brethren,⁸⁰ the³⁵⁸⁸ prophets,⁴³⁹⁶ who³⁷³⁹ have spoken²⁹⁸⁰ in the³⁵⁸⁸ name³⁶⁸⁶ of the Lord,²⁹⁶² for an example⁵²⁶² of suffering affliction,²⁵⁵² and²⁵³² of patience.³¹¹⁵

10  형제들아 주의G2962 이름G3686으로 말한 선지자들로 고난과 오래 참음의 본을G5262 삼으라

10  My brothers, take the prophets who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering ill, and of patience.

10  나의 형제들아, 주(야훼)의 이름으로 말한 선지자들을 고난과 인내의 본으로 삼으라.

11  Behold,²⁴⁰⁰ we count them happy³¹⁰⁶ which endure.⁵²⁷⁸ Ye have heard¹⁹¹ of the³⁵⁸⁸ patience⁵²⁸¹ of Job,²⁴⁹² and²⁵³² have seen¹⁴⁹² the³⁵⁸⁸ end⁵⁰⁵⁶ of the Lord;²⁹⁶² that³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord²⁹⁶² is²⁰⁷⁶ very pitiful,⁴¹⁸⁴ and²⁵³² of tender mercy.³⁶²⁹

11  보라 인내하는 자를 우리가 복되다 하나니 너희가 욥의 인내를 들었고 주께서G2962 주신 결말을 보았거니와 주는G2962 가장 자비하시고 긍휼히 여기는 자시니라

11  Behold, we count blessed those who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job, and you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is full of pity and of tender mercy.

11  보라, 우리는 견디어 내는 자들을 복 있는 사람들로 여기나니, 너희가 욥의 인내를 들었고 또 주(야훼)의 결말을 보았거니와, 주(야훼)는 인정이 심히 많으시고 자비로우시니라.

12  But¹¹⁶¹ above⁴²⁵³ all things,³⁹⁵⁶ my³⁴⁵⁰ brethren,⁸⁰ swear³⁶⁶⁰ not,³³⁶¹ neither³³⁸³ by heaven,³⁷⁷² neither³³⁸³ by the³⁵⁸⁸ earth,¹⁰⁹³ neither³³⁸³ by any²⁴³ other⁵¹⁰⁰ oath:³⁷²⁷ but¹¹⁶¹ let your⁵²¹⁶ yea³⁴⁸³ be²²⁷⁷ yea;³⁴⁸³ and²⁵³² your⁽³⁵⁸⁸⁾ nay,³⁷⁵⁶ nay;³⁷⁵⁶ lest³³⁶³ ye fall⁴⁰⁹⁸ into¹⁵¹⁹ condemnation.⁵²⁷²

12  내 형제들아 무엇보다도 맹세하지 말찌니 하늘로나 땅으로나 아무 다른 것으로도 맹세하지 말고 오직 너희의 그렇다 하는것은 그렇다 하고 아니라 하는 것은 아니라 하여 죄 정함을 면하라

12  But before all things, my brothers, do not swear; neither by the heaven nor by the earth, nor any other oath. But let your yes be yes, and your no, no, lest you fall into condemnation.

12   나의 형제들아, 무엇보다도 맹세하지 말라. 하늘로도 말고 땅으로도 말며 어떤 다른 맹세로도 말지니라. 다만 너희는 '예'할 것은 '예'하고, '아니라'할 것은 '아니라'하여 정죄에 빠지지 않도록 하라.

13  Is any among you afflicted?^{2553, 5100, 1722, 5213} let him pray.⁴³³⁶ Is any merry?^{2114, 5100} let him sing psalms.⁵⁵⁶⁷

13  너희 중에 고난 당하는 자가 있느냐 저는 기도할 것이요 즐거워하는 자가 있느냐 저는 찬송할찌니라

13  Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing psalms.

13   너희 가운데 고난받는 자가 있느냐? 그는 기도할 것이요, 즐거워하는 자가 있느냐? 그는 시로 노래할지니라.

14  Is any sick^{770, 5100} among¹⁷²² you?⁵²¹³ let him call for⁴³⁴¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ elders⁴²⁴⁵ of the³⁵⁸⁸ church;¹⁵⁷⁷ and²⁵³² let them pray⁴³³⁶ over¹⁹⁰⁹ him,⁸⁴⁶ anointing²¹⁸ him⁸⁴⁶ with oil¹⁶³⁷ in¹⁷²² the³⁵⁸⁸ name³⁶⁸⁶ of the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord:²⁹⁶²

14  너희 중에 병든 자가 있느냐 저는 교회의 장로들을 청할 것이요 그들은 주의G2962 이름G3686으로G1722 기름을G1637 바르며G218 위하여G1909  기도할찌니라G4336

14  Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

14   너희 중에 병든 자가 있느냐? 그는 교회의 장로들을 청할 것이요, 장로들은 주(야훼)의 이름으로 그에게 기름을 붓고 그를 위하여 기도할지니라.

15  And²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ prayer²¹⁷¹ of faith⁴¹⁰² shall save⁴⁹⁸² the³⁵⁸⁸ sick,²⁵⁷⁷ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord²⁹⁶² shall raise him up;^{1453, 846} and if²⁵⁷⁹ he have⁵⁶⁰⁰ committed⁴¹⁶⁰ sins,²⁶⁶ they shall be forgiven⁸⁶³ him.⁸⁴⁶

15  믿음의 기도는 병든 자를 구원하리니 주께서G2962 저를 일으키시리라 혹시 죄를 범하였을찌라도 사하심을 얻으리라

15  And the prayer of faith will cure the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him.

15 믿음의 기도는 병든 자들을 구원하리니 주(야훼)께서 그를 일으키시리라. 그가 죄들을 범했어도 그것들을 용서해 주시리라.

16  Confess¹⁸⁴³ your faults³⁹⁰⁰ one to another,²⁴⁰ and²⁵³² pray²¹⁷² one for another,^{240, 5228} that³⁷⁰⁴ ye may be healed.²³⁹⁰ The effectual fervent¹⁷⁵⁴ prayer¹¹⁶² of a righteous man¹³⁴² availeth²⁴⁸⁰ much.⁴¹⁸³

16  이러므로 너희 죄를 서로 고하며 병 낫기를 위하여 서로 기도하라 의인의 간구는 역사하는 힘이 많으니라

16  Confess faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous one avails much.

16   그러므로 너희는 서로 잘못을 자백하고 치유를 위하여 서로 기도하라. 의인의 효과적이고 열렬한 기도는 역사하는 힘이 많으니라.

17  Elijah²²⁴³ was²²⁵⁸ a man⁴⁴⁴ subject to like passions³⁶⁶³ as we²²⁵⁴ are, and²⁵³² he prayed earnestly^{4336, 4335} that it might not³³⁶¹ rain:¹⁰²⁶ and²⁵³² it rained¹⁰²⁶ not³⁷⁵⁶ on¹⁹⁰⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ earth¹⁰⁹³ by the space of three⁵¹⁴⁰ years¹⁷⁶³ and²⁵³² six¹⁸⁰³ months.³³⁷⁶

17  엘리야는 우리와 성정이 같은 사람이로되 저가 비 오지 않기를 간절히 기도한즉 삼년 육개월 동안 땅에 비가 아니 오고

17  Elijah was a man of like passion as we are. And he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for the time of three years and six months.

17    엘리야는 우리와 같은 성정에 속한 사람이지만 비가 오지 않기를 간절히 기도하였더니 삼 년 육 개월이나 땅에 비가 오지 않았고

18  And²⁵³² he prayed⁴³³⁶ again,³⁸²⁵ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ heaven³⁷⁷² gave¹³²⁵ rain,⁵²⁰⁵ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ earth¹⁰⁹³ brought forth⁹⁸⁵ her⁸⁴⁸ fruit.²⁵⁹⁰

18  디시 기도한즉 하늘이 비를 주고 땅이 열매를 내었느니라

18  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth caused its fruit to sprout.

18  다시 기도하였더니 하늘이 비를 내려 땅이 열매를 내었느니라.

19  Brethren,⁸⁰ if¹⁴³⁷ any⁵¹⁰⁰ of¹⁷²² you⁵²¹³ do err⁴¹⁰⁵ from⁵⁷⁵ the³⁵⁸⁸ truth,²²⁵ and²⁵³² one⁵¹⁰⁰ convert¹⁹⁹⁴ him;⁸⁴⁶

19  내 형제들아 너희 중에 미혹하여 진리를 떠난 자를 누가 돌아서게 하면

19  Brothers, if anyone among you err from the truth, and if anyone turns him back,

19   형제들아, 너희 가운데 누가 진리를 떠나 과오를 범할 때 누군가가 그를 회심하게 한다면

20  Let him know,¹⁰⁹⁷ that³⁷⁵⁴ he which converteth¹⁹⁹⁴ the sinner²⁶⁸ from¹⁵³⁷ the error⁴¹⁰⁶ of his⁸⁴⁶ way³⁵⁹⁸ shall save⁴⁹⁸² a soul⁵⁵⁹⁰ from¹⁵³⁷ death,²²⁸⁸ and²⁵³² shall hide²⁵⁷² a multitude⁴¹²⁸ of sins.²⁶⁶

20  너희가 알 것은 죄인을 미혹한 길에서 돌아서게 하는 자가 그 영혼을 사망에서 구원하며 허다한 죄를 덮을 것이니라

20  know that he who turns back the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

20   그 죄인을 자신의 잘못된 길에서 돌아서게 하는 그 사람은 한 사람의 혼을 사망에서 구원하게 될 것이며, 수많은 죄들을 덮게 되리라는 것을 그로 하여금 알게 하라.
