1  Behold,¹⁴⁹² what manner⁴²¹⁷ of love²⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ Father³⁹⁶² hath bestowed¹³²⁵ upon us,²²⁵⁴ that²⁴⁴³ we should be called²⁵⁶⁴ the sons⁵⁰⁴³ of God:²³¹⁶ therefore^{1223, 5124} the³⁵⁸⁸ world²⁸⁸⁹ knoweth¹⁰⁹⁷ us²²⁴⁸ not,³⁷⁵⁶ because³⁷⁵⁴ it knew¹⁰⁹⁷ him⁸⁴⁶ not.³⁷⁵⁶

1  보라 아버지께서 어떠한 사랑을 우리에게 주사 하나님의G2316 자녀라G5043 일컬음을 얻게 하셨는고 우리가 그러하도다 그러므로 세상이 우리를 알지 못함은 그를 알지 못함이니라

1  Behold what manner of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God. Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

1  보라, 아버지께서 어떠한 사랑을 우리에게 주셔서 우리로 하나님(야훼)의 아들들이라 불리게 하셨는가. 그러므로 세상이 우리를 알지 못하나니 이는 세상이 그분을 알지 못했기 때문이라.

2  Beloved,²⁷ now³⁵⁶⁸ are²⁰⁷⁰ we the sons⁵⁰⁴³ of God,²³¹⁶ and²⁵³² it doth not yet³⁷⁶⁸ appear⁵³¹⁹ what⁵¹⁰¹ we shall be:²⁰⁷¹ but¹¹⁶¹ we know¹⁴⁹² that,³⁷⁵⁴ when¹⁴³⁷ he shall appear,⁵³¹⁹ we shall be²⁰⁷¹ like³⁶⁶⁴ him;⁸⁴⁶ for³⁷⁵⁴ we shall see³⁷⁰⁰ him⁸⁴⁶ as²⁵³¹ he is.²⁰⁷⁶

2  사랑하는 자들아 우리가 지금은 하나님의G5043 자녀라 장래에 어떻게 될 것은 아직 나타나지 아니하였으나 그가 나타내심이G5319 되면 우리가 그와 같을G3664 줄을 아는 것은 그의 계신 그대로 볼 것을G3700 인함이니

2  Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

2  사랑하는 자들아, 이제는 우리가 하나님의 아들들이라. 우리가 어떻게 될 것인지는 아직 나타나지 아니하였으나 그가 나타나시면 우리가 그와 같이 되리라는 것을 아노니, 이는 우리가 그분 그대로 그분을 볼 것이기 때문이라.

그와 같이 되리라:  시_17:15; 롬_8:29; 고전_15:49; 빌_3:21; 벧후_1:4

3  And²⁵³² every man³⁹⁵⁶ that hath²¹⁹² this⁵⁰²⁶ hope¹⁶⁸⁰ in¹⁹⁰⁹ him⁸⁴⁶ purifieth⁴⁸ himself,¹⁴³⁸ even as²⁵³¹ he¹⁵⁶⁵ is²⁰⁷⁶ pure.⁵³

3  주를 향하여 이 소망을 가진 자마다 그의 깨끗하심과 같이 자기를 깨끗하게 하느니라

3  And everyone who has this hope on him purifies himself, even as that One is pure.

3  그분 안에서 이 소망을 가지는 사람은 누구나 그분이 정결하신 것처럼 자신을 정결케 하느니라.

4  Whosoever³⁹⁵⁶ committeth⁴¹⁶⁰ sin²⁶⁶ transgresseth also the law:^{4160, 2532, 458} for²⁵³² sin²⁶⁶ is²⁰⁷⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ transgression of the law.⁴⁵⁸

4  죄를G266 짓는G4160 자마다G3956 불법을G458 행하나니G4160 죄는G266 불법G458이라

4  Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, for sin is lawlessness.

4   죄를 짓는 자마다 율법을 범하는 것이니, 죄는 곧 율법을 범하는 것이라.

5  And²⁵³² ye know¹⁴⁹² that³⁷⁵⁴ he¹⁵⁶⁵ was manifested⁵³¹⁹ to²⁴⁴³ take away¹⁴² our²²⁵⁷ sins;²⁶⁶ and²⁵³² in¹⁷²² him⁸⁴⁶ is²⁰⁷⁶ no³⁷⁵⁶ sin.²⁶⁶

5  그가 우리 죄를 없이 하려고 나타내신바 된 것을 너희가 아나니 그에게는 죄가 없느니라

5  And you know that He was revealed that He might take away our sins, and in Him is no sin.

5  그분이 우리의 죄들을 없애려고 나타나신 것을 너희가 아나니 그분 안에는 죄가 없느니라.

6  Whosoever³⁹⁵⁶ abideth³³⁰⁶ in¹⁷²² him⁸⁴⁶ sinneth²⁶⁴ not:³⁷⁵⁶ whosoever³⁹⁵⁶ sinneth²⁶⁴ hath not³⁷⁵⁶ seen³⁷⁰⁸ him,⁸⁴⁶ neither³⁷⁶¹ known¹⁰⁹⁷ him.⁸⁴⁶

6  그 안에 거하는 자마다 범죄하지 아니하나니 범죄하는 자마다 그를 보지도 못하였고 그를 알지도 못하였느니라

6  Everyone who abides in Him does not sin. Everyone who sins has not seen Him nor known Him.

6    그분 안에 거하는 자마다 죄를 짓지 아니하나니, 죄를 짓는 자는 누구나 그분을 보지 못하였으며 알지도 못하였느니라.

7  Little children,⁵⁰⁴⁰ let no man³³⁶⁷ deceive⁴¹⁰⁵ you:⁵²⁰⁹ he that doeth⁴¹⁶⁰ righteousness¹³⁴³ is²⁰⁷⁶ righteous,¹³⁴² even as²⁵³¹ he¹⁵⁶⁵ is²⁰⁷⁶ righteous.¹³⁴²

7  자녀들아 아무도 너희를 미혹하지 못하게 하라 의를 행하는 자는 그의 의로우심과 같이 의롭고

7  Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as that One is righteous.

7  어린 자녀들아, 아무도 너희를 속이지 못하게 하라. 의를 행하는 자는 그분께서 의로우신 것같이 의로우나

8  He that committeth⁴¹⁶⁰ sin²⁶⁶ is²⁰⁷⁶ of¹⁵³⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ devil;¹²²⁸ for³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ devil¹²²⁸ sinneth²⁶⁴ from⁵⁷⁵ the beginning.⁷⁴⁶ For¹⁵¹⁹ this purpose⁵¹²⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ Son⁵²⁰⁷ of God²³¹⁶ was manifested,⁵³¹⁹ that²⁴⁴³ he might destroy³⁰⁸⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ works²⁰⁴¹ of the³⁵⁸⁸ devil.¹²²⁸

8  죄를G266 짓는G4160 자는 마귀에게G1228 속하나니 마귀는 처음부터 범죄함이니라 하나님의G2316 아들이 나타나신 것은 마귀의 일을 멸하려 하심이니라

8  He who practices sin is of the Devil, for the Devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was revealed, that He might undo the works of the Devil.

8   죄를 짓는 자는 마귀에게 속하나니 이는 마귀가 처음부터 죄를 짓기 때문이라. 이 목적으로 하나님(엘로힘)의 아들이 나타나셨으니, 곧 마귀의 일들을 멸하시려는 것이라.

9  Whosoever³⁹⁵⁶ is born¹⁰⁸⁰ of¹⁵³⁷ God²³¹⁶ doth not³⁷⁵⁶ commit⁴¹⁶⁰ sin;²⁶⁶ for³⁷⁵⁴ his⁸⁴⁸ seed⁴⁶⁹⁰ remaineth³³⁰⁶ in¹⁷²² him:⁸⁴⁶ and²⁵³² he cannot^{1410, 3756} sin,²⁶⁴ because³⁷⁵⁴ he is born¹⁰⁸⁰ of¹⁵³⁷ God.²³¹⁶

9  하나님G2316께로서 난 자마다 죄를 짓지 아니하나니 이는 하나님(그분)의 씨가G4690 그의 속에 거함이요 저도 범죄치 못하는 것은 하나님G2316께로서 났음이라

9  Everyone who has been born of God does not commit sin, because His seed remains in him, and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

9   하나님(엘로힘)께로부터 태어난 사람은 누구나 죄를 짓지 아니하나니 이는 하나님(그분)의 씨가 그 사람 안에 거함이요, 또 죄를 지을 수 없는 것은 그가 하나님(엘로힘)께로부터 태어났기 때문이라.

10  In¹⁷²² this⁵¹²⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ children⁵⁰⁴³ of God²³¹⁶ are²⁰⁷⁶ manifest,⁵³¹⁸ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ children⁵⁰⁴³ of the³⁵⁸⁸ devil:¹²²⁸ whosoever³⁹⁵⁶ doeth⁴¹⁶⁰ not³³⁶¹ righteousness¹³⁴³ is²⁰⁷⁶ not³⁷⁵⁶ of¹⁵³⁷ God,²³¹⁶ neither²⁵³² he that loveth²⁵ not³³⁶¹ his⁸⁴⁸ brother.⁸⁰

10  이러므로 하나님의G2316 자녀들과 마귀의 자녀들이 나타나나니 무릇 의를 행치 아니하는 자나 또는 그 형제를 사랑치 아니하는 자는 하나님께G2316 속하지 아니하니라

10  In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the Devil: everyone not practicing righteousness is not of God, also he who does not love his brother.

10  여기에서 하나님(엘로힘)의 자녀와 마귀의 자녀가 드러나느니라. 의를 행하지 아니하는 자나 자기 형제를 사랑하지 아니하는 자는 누구나 하나님(엘로힘)께 속하지 아니하니라.

11  For³⁷⁵⁴ this³⁷⁷⁸ is²⁰⁷⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ message³¹ that³⁷³⁹ ye heard¹⁹¹ from⁵⁷⁵ the beginning,⁷⁴⁶ that²⁴⁴³ we should love²⁵ one another.²⁴⁰

11  우리가 서로 사랑할지니 이는 너희가 처음부터 들은 소식이라

11  For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;

11   이는 너희가 처음부터 들은 말씀이 우리가 서로 사랑해야 한다는 것이기 때문이라.

12  Not³⁷⁵⁶ as²⁵³¹ Cain,²⁵³⁵ who was²²⁵⁸ of¹⁵³⁷ that wicked one,⁴¹⁹⁰ and²⁵³² slew⁴⁹⁶⁹ his⁸⁴⁸ brother.⁸⁰ And²⁵³² wherefore^{5484, 5101} slew⁴⁹⁶⁹ he him?⁸⁴⁶ Because³⁷⁵⁴ his own⁸⁴⁸ works²⁰⁴¹ were²²⁵⁸ evil,⁴¹⁹⁰ and¹¹⁶¹ his⁸⁴⁸ brother's⁸⁰ righteous.¹³⁴²

12  가인같이 하지 말라 저는 악한 자에게 속하여 그 아우를 죽였으니 어찐 연고로 죽였느뇨 자기의 행위는 악하고 그 아우의 행위는 의로움이니라

12  not as Cain who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. And for what did he kill him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's things were righteous.

12  카인같이 되지 말라. 그는 악한 자로부터 나왔으며 자기 아우를 살해하였으니 무슨 연고로 그를 죽였겠느냐? 이는 그 자신의 행위는 악하고 그 아우의 행위는 의로웠기 때문이라.

13  Marvel²²⁹⁶ not,³³⁶¹ my³⁴⁵⁰ brethren,⁸⁰ if¹⁴⁸⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ world²⁸⁸⁹ hate³⁴⁰⁴ you.⁵²⁰⁹

13  형제들아 세상이 너희를 미워하거든 이상히 여기지 말라

13  Do not marvel, my brothers, if the world hates you.

13  나의 형제들아, 세상이 너희를 미워하여도 이상히 여기지 말라.

14  We²²⁴⁹ know¹⁴⁹² that³⁷⁵⁴ we have passed³³²⁷ from¹⁵³⁷ death²²⁸⁸ unto¹⁵¹⁹ life,²²²² because³⁷⁵⁴ we love²⁵ the³⁵⁸⁸ brethren.⁸⁰ He that loveth²⁵ not³³⁶¹ his brother⁸⁰ abideth³³⁰⁶ in¹⁷²² death.²²⁸⁸

14  우리가 형제를 사랑함으로 사망에서 옮겨 생명으로 들어간 줄을 알거니와 사랑치 아니하는 자는 사망에 거하느니라

14  We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother abides in death.

14   우리가 사망으로부터 생명으로 옮겨간 것을 아노니, 이는 우리가 형제들을 사랑하기 때문이라. 자기 형제를 사랑하지 않는 자는 사망 안에 거하느니라.

15  Whosoever³⁹⁵⁶ hateth³⁴⁰⁴ his⁸⁴⁸ brother⁸⁰ is²⁰⁷⁶ a murderer:⁴⁴³ and²⁵³² ye know¹⁴⁹² that³⁷⁵⁴ no^{3956, 3756} murderer⁴⁴³ hath²¹⁹² eternal¹⁶⁶ life²²²² abiding³³⁰⁶ in¹⁷²² him.⁸⁴⁶

15  그 형제를 미워하는 자마다 살인하는 자니 살인하는 자마다 영생이 그 속에 거하지 아니하는 것을 너희가 아는 바라

15  Everyone hating his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has everlasting life abiding in him.

15    자기 형제를 미워하는 자는 누구나 살인자요, 살인자는 누구나 영원한 생명이 그의 안에 거하지 않음을 너희가 아느니라.

16  Hereby^{1722, 5129} perceive¹⁰⁹⁷ we the³⁵⁸⁸ love²⁶ of God,⁽²³¹⁶⁾ because³⁷⁵⁴ he¹⁵⁶⁵ laid down⁵⁰⁸⁷ his⁸⁴⁸ life⁵⁵⁹⁰ for⁵²²⁸ us:²²⁵⁷ and²⁵³² we²²⁴⁹ ought³⁷⁸⁴ to lay down⁵⁰⁸⁷ our lives⁵⁵⁹⁰ for⁵²²⁸ the³⁵⁸⁸ brethren.⁸⁰

16  그가 우리를 위하여 목숨을 버리셨으니 우리가 이로써 사랑을 알고 우리도 형제들을 위하여 목숨을 버리는 것이 마땅하니라

16  By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

16   이로써 우리가 하나님(엘로힘)의 사랑을 아노니, 이는 그 분이 우리를 위하여 자신의 생명을 내어 놓으셨음이라. 따라서 우리도 형제들을 위하여 우리의 생명을 내어 놓는 것이 마땅하도다.

17  But¹¹⁶¹ whoso^{3739, 302} hath²¹⁹² this world's²⁸⁸⁹ good,⁹⁷⁹ and²⁵³² seeth²³³⁴ his⁸⁴⁸ brother⁸⁰ have²¹⁹² need,⁵⁵³² and²⁵³² shutteth up²⁸⁰⁸ his⁸⁴⁸ bowels⁴⁶⁹⁸ of compassion from⁵⁷⁵ him,⁸⁴⁶ how⁴⁴⁵⁹ dwelleth³³⁰⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ love²⁶ of God²³¹⁶ in¹⁷²² him?⁸⁴⁶

17  누가 이 세상 재물을 가지고 형제의 궁핍함을 보고도 도와줄 마음을 막으면 하나님의G2316 사랑이 어찌 그 속에 거할까보냐

17  But whoever has this world's goods and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his bowels from him, how does the love of God dwell in him?

17  누가 세상의 재물을 가졌는데 자기 형제의 궁핍한 것을 알면서도 그를 도와 줄 마음을 닫으면 어찌 하나님(엘로힘)의 사랑이 그 안에 거하겠느냐?

18  My³⁴⁵⁰ little children,⁵⁰⁴⁰ let us not³³⁶¹ love²⁵ in word,³⁰⁵⁶ neither³³⁶⁶ in tongue;¹¹⁰⁰ but²³⁵ in deed²⁰⁴¹ and²⁵³² in truth.²²⁵

18  자녀들아 우리가 말과 혀로만 사랑하지 말고 오직 행함과 진실함으로 하자

18  My children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

18  나의 어린 자녀들아, 우리가 말이나 혀로 사랑하지 말고 행동과 진리로 하자.

19  And²⁵³² hereby^{1722, 5129} we know¹⁰⁹⁷ that³⁷⁵⁴ we are²⁰⁷⁰ of¹⁵³⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ truth,²²⁵ and²⁵³² shall assure³⁹⁸² our²²⁵⁷ hearts²⁵⁸⁸ before¹⁷¹⁵ him.⁸⁴⁶

19  이로써 우리가 진리에 속한 줄을 알고 또 우리 마음을 주 앞에서 굳세게 하리로다

19  And in this we shall know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him,

19  이로써 우리가 진리에 속한 줄 알고 또 그 분 앞에서 우리의 마음을 확고히 하리라.

20  For³⁷⁵⁴ if¹⁴³⁷ our²²⁵⁷ heart²⁵⁸⁸ condemn²⁶⁰⁷ us,⁽³⁷⁵⁴⁾ God²³¹⁶ is²⁰⁷⁶ greater³¹⁸⁷ than our²²⁵⁷ heart,²⁵⁸⁸ and²⁵³² knoweth¹⁰⁹⁷ all things.³⁹⁵⁶

20  우리 마음이 혹 우리를 책망할 일이 있거든 하물며 우리 마음보다 크시고 모든 것을 아시는 하나님G2316일까 보냐

20  that if our heart accuses us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

20  이는 만일 우리 마음이 우리를 정죄한다면 하나님(엘로힘)은 우리 마음보다 더 크시고 모든 것을 아시기 때문이라.

21  Beloved,²⁷ if¹⁴³⁷ our²²⁵⁷ heart²⁵⁸⁸ condemn²⁶⁰⁷ us²²⁵⁷ not,³³⁶¹ then have²¹⁹² we confidence³⁹⁵⁴ toward⁴³¹⁴ God.²³¹⁶

21  사랑하는 자들아 만일 우리 마음이 우리를 책망할 것이 없으면 하나님G2316 앞에서 담대함을 얻고

21  Beloved, if our heart does not accuse us, we have confidence toward God.

21   사랑하는 자들아, 만일 우리 마음이 우리를 정죄하지 아니하면 우리가 하나님(엘로힘) 앞에서 담대함을 얻고

22  And²⁵³² whatsoever^{3739, 1437} we ask,¹⁵⁴ we receive²⁹⁸³ of³⁸⁴⁴ him,⁸⁴⁶ because³⁷⁵⁴ we keep⁵⁰⁸³ his⁸⁴⁸ commandments,¹⁷⁸⁵ and²⁵³² do⁴¹⁶⁰ those things that are pleasing⁷⁰¹ in his sight.^{1799, 846}

22  무엇이든지 구하는 바를 그에게 받나니 이는 우리가 그의 계명들을 지키고 그 앞에서 기뻐하시는 것을 행함이라

22  And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

22   무엇이든지 구하는 것을 그에게서 받나니, 이는 우리가 그의 계명들을 지키고 그의 목전에 기쁨이 되는 일들을 행함이라.

23  And²⁵³² this³⁷⁷⁸ is²⁰⁷⁶ his⁸⁴⁸ commandment,¹⁷⁸⁵ That²⁴⁴³ we should believe⁴¹⁰⁰ on the³⁵⁸⁸ name³⁶⁸⁶ of his⁸⁴⁸ Son⁵²⁰⁷ Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ,⁵⁵⁴⁷ and²⁵³² love²⁵ one another,²⁴⁰ as²⁵³¹ he gave¹³²⁵ us²²⁵⁴ commandment.¹⁷⁸⁵

23  그의 계명은 이것이니 곧 그 아들 예수G2424 그리스도의G5547 이름을 믿고 그가 우리에게 주신 계명대로 서로 사랑할 것이니라

23  And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

23  그의 계명은 이것이니, 우리가 그의 아들 예수(야슈아) 그리스도(하 마쉬악)의 이름을 믿고, 그가 우리에게 주신 계명대로 서로 사랑하라는 것이라.

24  And²⁵³² he that keepeth⁵⁰⁸³ his⁸⁴⁸ commandments¹⁷⁸⁵ dwelleth³³⁰⁶ in¹⁷²² him,⁸⁴⁶ and²⁵³² he⁸⁴⁶ in¹⁷²² him.⁸⁴⁶ And²⁵³² hereby^{1722, 5129} we know¹⁰⁹⁷ that³⁷⁵⁴ he abideth³³⁰⁶ in¹⁷²² us,²²⁵⁴ by¹⁵³⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ Spirit⁴¹⁵¹ which³⁷³⁹ he hath given¹³²⁵ us.²²⁵⁴

24  그의 계명들을G1785 지키는 자는G5083 주(그분) 안에 거하고G3306 주(그분은)는 저 안에 거하시나니 우리에게 주신 성령으로G4151 말미암아 그가 우리 안에 거하시는줄을 우리가 아느니라

24  And he who keeps His commandment dwells in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit which He gave to us.

24    그의 계명들을 지키는 사람은 그 분 안에 거하고 그 분은 그 사람 안에 거하시느니라. 이로써 우리에게 주신 성령(영)에 의하여 우리는 그 분이 우리 안에 거하시는 것을 아느니라.
